Default '98 civic exhaust Q

I have a 98 civic lx. The service rep. told me I have a slight crack in the exhaust manifold. A new one is $600. What is the cheapest price I could find for a performance header? Also the service rep said this model year has an integrated cat-converter, which I would have to buy if I wanted to go the header route instead of the stock manifold. Does anyone know about this?

thanks

I converted mine from the LX to EX setup. You'll need an EX header and either an oem cat or perfomance EX cat.

do you mean you replaced the LX OEM header and cat with an EX header and cat? Does this save me any money? Is the EX completely compatible with LX specs., engine room, O2 sensor??
Im not concerned with performance upgrades, just a cheap fix.

You could get a high-end performance header for a lot less than $600...

if you want cheap get one of those headers off ebay for $70. then if you want to add a cat just have a muffler shop weld one b4 the resonator

Im unsure if this link will take you directly to the sellers page.

I found a DCS header, brand new, with O2 sensor stock compatibility. The seller states it is a direct bolt-on replacement with 10 Hp increase.

My only experience with exhausts are $15 cherry bombs from NAPA that i put on an old International P/U, and a Full Arrow system on my bike for $700.

I guess Im real skeptical when this brand new DCS stainless steel header cost $50.

What is anyones take on this??

the thing with a cheap header is you'll be back in the same place you are right now real soon.

if you just want a quick fix, go with the ebay header and cat for an EX of the same year.
