Default Axel-Backs

Hello i just wanted to know more about axel-backs because i just bought a muffler for my 97 honda civic ex 5 speed and i just got the muffler welded on (a little rice but did not know then) But any ways it sound ok but i want it louder and i did not really wan to spend the money on a cat-back so i was thinking about getting a axel back i really don't care all about speed but my freind bought a muffler for his 91 prelude and just welded it on and it is loud as he sound pretty good like a cat-back or something help me on making my exhaust louder thanks

you need more intake to have more output. try a simple short ram intake, even 1 of the kind with the flex hose will work, with a high performance filter (cone type) that should help you out

RICE!!! I hope you get noise pollution tickets with that little setup u call "Axle back exhuast".....basically u went to walmart bought an APC Muffler and welded it on. Not cool. Im going to officially issue my first "Rice ticket" now if i can only find the picture of it...any one else here agree with me? (PS if u want your exhaust LOUD.....just poke holes in ur stock muffler or for that matter take the muffler off")

If i were you i wouldn't go louder. You will get annoyed by it if your sit in ur car on a long trip.

yea true what is said above. When I bought my car the muffler was tooken off, how ever the car did have a ractive header and a short ram. It sounds loud, and actually not too bad. So if you want a loud sound, take that muffler off. Trust me.

Whether you're serious or not isn't my issue. The muffler wasn't there when I bought the car. seriously!

i think the rule is you're not supposed to hear that much of your exhaust inside the car. only on the outside. i had a ****ty muffler on my car and it was louder inside than out, even at idle. save your $ get a catback. well worth it and you don't have to worry about the rice police busting you.
