Default Cai

Back to my 97 DX, I bought it with a CAI, and I was trying to figure out if they come in two pieces or one, because mine is two piece. I was wondering If I could in effect, take on section off and put the filter on the other piece and make it a SRI if I ever needed to. Let me know if you guys need some pics.

Ok, just making sure because it joins together kind of low like between the engine and the fender. Just checking before I break something.

the reason i ask is because if the CAI runs right in front of the transmission and that's where the joint is, there is no point in him turning it into a SRI because then it can still get wet easily and will just be sucking in hotter air.

No, it's above the tranny, it's too dark now to take a picture, but I did it anyway. It is right between the fender and dizzy above the passenger motor mount.

oh alright, you're good then. i was just making sure, I didn't want you to put the filter right in front of the transmission and lose HP while making yourself more prone to hydrolock. lol

I understand, but that would be a silly way for AEM to make a CAI. The model Civic I have actually put it in front of the passenger wheel inside the bumper.
