Default CAI Question

Hey guys, I just installed an ebay intake with k&n filter. I kno its weird how I'm one of the most anti cai people there are and yet I bought one. Anyways I did it not for any performance gains, just cause I was board and wanted to do something to my car anyways.

Ok, so in the first pic you there is a hole for the little rubber nipple thing that came with the intake for the (*edit) Intake Air Temperature sensor. The rubber nipple was waaaaayyyyy to big, could not get it in there. So i had to hook the (*edit) Intake Air Temperature sensor to a small piece of hose and connect it to one of the metal nipples. My question is should I cover it up? I think I should so dirt and crap doesnt get in so I was thinking some of that aluminum tape stuff.

Alright the second question is i broke the plastic nipple in this pic, kinda hard to see the red circle but yea you can see it. This is the hose that doesnt need to be connected to the intake, or atleast this is what i read. I'm kinda **** about stuff like this and want to fix it, is it worth going to honda and getting a new piece or no? Just want to make sure it doesnt effect reliablity. Lastly I noticed if i covered the hole up with my finger when the car is warming up and the car is reving higher, it drops the rpms down. What does this thing even do, just wondering. Thanks.

well the busted off nipple is a vacume hose... yes replace it..
and the sensor that plugs into the intake... pull the rubber off the actual sensor and put afew drops of oil on the rubber and work it onto the intake, once its on simply wipe off any extra oil and push the sensor into place
but if you cant get the rubber seal inplace simply drill or file the opening alittle larger... pretty simple....

feel lucky that you had 3 holes in your intake.LOL mine only had 2 so i had to drill my own...

o yea, alright I'll see what I can do. Thanks! I'm probably just going to rip the whole thing apart again when i get that part replaced, so that way i can really work the rubber piece in. Thanks for the info.

O btw addiction did you find that valve cover???

now my intake only had two holes but thats all i needed....hose to the valve cover and IAT.

btw thats not an o2 sensor, thats in Intake Air Temperature sensor. But you take the grommet from the original intake and it pulls out and pushes right into there and then you just plug the IAT sensor into it.

EDIT: There wasnt a gromlet in the stock intake, and its raining cats and dogs right now so I'll takle a look look at the sensor itself later.

iight fosho, as long as its not in horriable condition i wont mind spending some time cleaning it.

look there, see the little sensor/grommet plugged into that stock plsatic intake just to the left of his hand? Thats the grommet (not gromlet ) and sensor you need to pull out and plug into the new one. The rubber grommet just pulls out and that open hole in your fiurst picture if where it needs to plug into.

so i went to the honda dealership and found out that piece i broke is $96 bucks, and like $60 from an online store. So that is a lot of f**king money for such a small piece. So i think im going to try and super glue the piece back on or use some epoxy. Good idea or bad idea? cause man I just dont want to have to throw down 60 bucks for such a small piece that doesnt even affect the performance or reliablity of the car

well what does that piece look like? are both hoses the same size?
ya might have 2 options....

the simplest fix if they are the same size hoses... just epoxy over the busted hose and buy a simple T for that size hose and simply cut the top hose afew inches from the top nipple and put the T in the hose and clamp on the same top hose and the side hose from the busted nipple....
very simply.... or if you want to remove the piece from the car and you have the original piece that busted off then id just epoxy it back on and be sure to put the epoxy all the way around the piece that way it hugs the busted piece to the good piece if ya get what i mean....

i prefer to use the stick epoxy over the liquid but they both work good... its just the liquid stuff tends to run off the area if its curved much.... the stick epoxy doesnt have much work time tho so you need to mix it quickly and apply quickly also...
