Default CAT question

so im gonna put an EX header exhaust system on my 98 LX which means that I need a new CAT, what should I get? A friend recommended an aftermarket one since they're pretty cheap but will it do the job well enough to kep my ride street legal?

i dont think aftermarket cats are that cheap, unless you're talking about the ones that look like cats but are straight pipes, you usually can get those on ebay for 25$.

Yeah, a good high flow cat is going to run you around 200bucks. Random Technologies is probably the best way to go

Also wondering, since the CAT on an EX exhaust is located further down the pipe compared to an LX exhaust which is located right after the manifold, will the O2 sensor me long enough to reach with the new exhaust or will I have to buy a new O2 sensor?

You just need to extend the wires. I have an LX with an EX DC header and random tech cat.
