Catback or just a muffler????
ok I own a 2004 Honda Civic Si hatchback, im ganna put exhaust on it but i was wondering something. I know a catback system can cost like 5 or 6 hundred bucks, but I can get just a muffler for no more than 200 (for a good one). What my question is, will I get close to the same sound and hp gain with just a muffler instead of a catback system? Any info on this is very appreciated. and also if you guys know a good brand of muffler to but tell me i was thinking if i could get the same hp gain and sound (or close to it) I was looking at a greddy or skunk2 muffler.

RE: Catback or just a muffler????
no. muffler u pretty much wont gain any power, and the sound of just a muffler sometimes isnt as good as a cat-back. u'll gaina pretty decent amount of power from a cat-back, def. alot more than just a muffler. i can vouch for the HKS HiPower exhaust. my friend has one on his EP, it sounds great but its really loud since he's running catless. the tips huge but it actually looks pretty good on that car IMO.

i love the angled tip, but not the angled muffler haha
again, cat back ftw. GReddy, Apexi, RSR, and Megan all make awesome cat backs. Or you could go custom (use the Search feature for info on that)
