Custom Header + Exhaust Questionssss

Default Custom Header + Exhaust Questionssss

First of all Im real sorry if this is already asked but I read as much as I could and didnt find any forum for it.

I gotta 2002 V-Tec 1.6L Vti yes its correct lol.... No Air Bags (didnt come with any) lol dont ask or try not to...

So my question is First I heard that Vtec doesnt really even engage till 5000 rpms also saw the boat movie so I want to get headders and was wondering which set up to go with 4-2-1 or 4-1 everyone said 4-2-1 but then i read that if vtec doesnt even engage till 5000 rpms is it even going to let me use all that power or let all the power to waste so wouldtn 4-1 be better when the vtec does hit in. Or the Ecu will change when vtec hits but read it doesnt....so if anyone can clear this up please

My second Question is that I wanna do a custom exhaust I guess its called a dummy dual exhaust, I want to have the headders go down and then split the pipe into two to do a side exhaust runing infront of the rear tires on each side with a whole in the skirt so all u see is a hole and a small grill like the mustan cobras i think so if this gonna make the car go even worse I could only get one guy to answer on this he said it will make ur motor ****tyer

My third question is I read in alot of articles that if you make your own headders they will be better than any aftermarket ones well most affordable ones in the 300 dollar price range also I moved to a third world country thats why i cant really get named brand parts unless I want to pay up to 200-300 % duty on it. So is this actually true if i creat my own they should run better because I have welders and Pipe benders that would do this cheaply for me..

So if I do all these things would it help a lil or actually make it worse is so could you tell in detail which idea would work if any..... and sorry if its a question already answerd....but really waiting for the next step so i can do something on the car.....
And i talked to my local honda dealer he said if he changes the Vtec specs for me to hit in earlier the whole system my not work properly maybe resulting in alot of power loss or loss of money to get a whole new system...he went in detail didnt understand alot...thanks everyone..

I can only answer this one. God only knows where you heard that from. Im gonna pull this for ya: [sm=bs.gif] and tell you why. Companies like DC, Headman, and Edelbrok test their headers untill the cows come home with highly advanced computer systems and dyno's. They are $200-300 because they mass produce them. Yes, if you have one hell of a exhaust guru on your hands you could get some made. But only in 1 out of 1000 cases.

First of all before u assume man there u go for the web sites n bro i know its a 1.6L
Now I guess god answer ur question BS man : But yea i understand what u are saying thats why it was a question you know but about the vtec thing with the 4-1 or 4-2-1 headder question could u clear that up bro

I hope you realise how HARD it is to do something like that. I read a whole article on this subject in a Honda Tuning Magazine. Besides... in my experience you wont feel a difference anyway.

Alright I rule that out then so do you think I shouldbuy 4-2-1 or 4-1 with the dummy dual side exhaust.....(Basically asking this because vtec engages at 5000rpms so wouldnt the 4-2-1z power just be going to a waste other than the 4-1 when the vtec would engage) if im wrong please let me know in all the places this is my main question no one touches the topic.....

4-2-1. But here is the deal with the dummy dually. Its very tricky. Not only will it most likely eliminate back pressure but its hard to get poth pipes flowing evenly. As for a straight up non-connected dummy, eventually you will see that the real exaust has carbon build up on the tip compared to the dummy which will look shiney. Basically what im saying is the dummy will end up being obvious. Unless you dont mind wipeing down the tail pipes every day

Okay I see but i read the thing about the back pressuer in one of the topics on here and said that it was just a myth I think it was in the newbie section....
