ebay header questions

i got a ebay header as a gift and they dont have mounting brackets where it attaches to the cat, are the brackets needed?

The one on my car broke in half and I think over time it caused my header to crack. I think you need one in order to hold the header stable otherwise over time it may crack.

My 2 cents.
