hmm. im going to have to look into that. however, just curious here, is there any way to fix the CEL if i do decide to just take out the cat?

 

You can get O2 simulators to lie to your ECU that the cat is still there and it will clear the check engine light but you still wouldnt pass inspection if your state has any kind of real emissions test

 

ya if you have a visual/smog test DO NOT DO IT!!!! keep the cat or convert to the EX exhaust... im thinking of doing it to my dx i got but right now its just not worth the money.

 

well i live in florida. ive never seen any kind of test, but ill look for some info on that.

 

I think what Addiction means is that when you get it inspected, they visually look for a cat, and if its not there, they will not inspect it. Also, Marcus, when I was boxing up the AC stuff....cut my finger, about a 3 inch long gash that goes down to the bone on my finger... hope youre happy

 

For the amount of gains you'll see on a non forced-induced/swapped set-up it would not be worth it to remove the cat. You make your car technically illegal to have on the road and pollute alot more for maybe +1 or 2whp, if that.

There was a test on an EM1 (1999-2000 Si) with I/H/E and removing the cat netted +4whp, and a highflow cat +3whp. With a D16Y7 you would be lucky to get +2
