The other day i was talking to a mechanic stating how slow and sluggish my 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan is. He mentioned to me that he can put a 2 inch performance exhaust system on my car for only $300. He said that it would make a dramatic difference in my acceleration. Is he correct and if so is $300 a good deal for the exhaust and installation?

I also have a question about LX exhaust systems. Part of my exhaust system is cracked (I think it's the header, maybe the manifold?) I've read that it's a common problem. It needs to be replaced and I'm looking for some suggestions on where/what to buy.

 

No your mechanic is just trying to make a buck, you wont notice any difference.

 

If anything, it'll sound nicer, and you will think you are getting better performance.

It is a waste of money if you are planning on staying stock IMO.
