Default Which exhaust?

I am trying to decide which muffler to buy and I thought I would ask your opinions. I don't want a really loud muffler, I just want the extra power.

Magnaflow : The muffler is 14" long, 7 wide,2 1/4 inlet with a 4" tip. USED $40

Universal SS : IN 21/4",5" wide, 14" long. NEW $35

a muffler alone won't give you power - you'll need a catback. between the two, magnaflow will give you the quieter sound.

i'm allways hearing about catbacks, and free/flow thorugh cats.. but no one ever sais much about whats between the header and the cat.. isnt there a short section of pipe in there?? its just been too long since i was under my car to remember...
as for the catbacks and flowthrough cats, i'm just like Decibel9m3, i dont want the noise, just the power... magnaflow, huh.. i'll have to look around and see what i can find from them for my 97...

I am planning getting a catback and pretty much replacing the whole exhaust system. I am just starting with the muffler.

magnaflow ftw. the universal/cheapo will sound way worse than the name brand.

also you might get like 1 horse, but it might in your head haha

It's cheaper in the long run to by a catback exhaust. Suck it up and do it. You'll be glad you did!!

So I think I may pass on these mufflers and just purchase a full exhaust system. [>:]

Thanks for you responses.

I decided to wait another week on the exhaust system. I just purchased an AEM V2 SRI from Ebay.

This is my first after-market purchase for my car, pretty exciting! I am at the point of no return now!
