Default Gas Prices - Header/Exhaust

With the gas prices going up...is it worth it to install headers and exhaust? Do you lose some MPG with headers and exhaust?

You actually get better MPG with I/H/E.

it's possible to get better mpg, but that is only if you stay off the go pedal

Ok. i've always thought that with the bigger pipping, you lose a lot of your MPG. But from the sounds of it, its not that bad as I thought it would be.

Anyone recommend a type/brand of headers/exhaust for a 99 civic coupe EX. I think i would need a street legal or one that has a carb sticker on it. I live in CA and they require smog testing every other year. I've heard horror storries of people failing just the visual alone...

get 2.25" piping for the cat-back and u'll have no problems. DC Sports and Meganracing both make great header and exhausts for a good price. seem to be the most popular for ppl on a budget. as long as u have all the cats and o2 sensors in, u should pass emissions with flying colors.

putting I/H/E on the car will give you slightly better mpg and also improve performance on your car. for the intake i recommend AEM (carb excempt) and DC sports for headers (also carb excempt) exhaust really doesn't matter. just be sure to throw the silencer on when you get the car smogged. all worked for me when i had my 99 ex.(i miss is it, parents took it away)
