I own a 2000 Civic Sedan with the 1.6 Liter engine. I've added a cold air intake, Arospeed race headers (took off cat) and Borla cat back exhaust. I'd like to be able to tell my buddies how much horsepower I have but don't want to get a Dyno. Honda says the 1.6L started at 115 hp. Am I pushing 150?? Can someone estimate how much horsepower I now have.

Unfortunetly you're not near 150. The only real way to tell is to have the car dynoed. What engine do you have? Because the only one that I know of during the 1996-2000 generation of civics the only one to come with 115 hp is the HX.

 

I wish I/H/E gave you 35HP...

I'm guessing you'd be lucky to be around 120 now... but you might want to get a few more guestimations.

 

well, even if some paper says that your engine has 115hp, it doesn't because of lost compression and the condition of a nearly 7 year old motor with probably 100,000 mi. your car probably had around 105 or so to start with, after I/H/E, you're probably around 110 to 115 if you're lucky

Add that all up and what'dya got? 125.6hp and 107.7lbs of tq. No compression = no Hp.

I would say that you are nowhere near 150.

 

why did you build up a d15b? any reason?

 

I guess I was way off. A guy can dream can't he. It's my first Civic and I wanted to do everything I could to boost horsepower without adding a turbo or supercharger. I've noticed it's definitely quicker. Anyway........... thanks for all the feedback.
I suppose I'm ready for the new 2007 Civic SI.

 

Just for the recoed, this isn't my motor; it's another guy. I was just making a point how hard it is to get to 150 NA. But as for the JDM D15, it has a better r/s ratio and a hotter cam than the usdm counterparts.

 

yeah, i know, that's the same for all jdm counterparts, should have at least started with a z6 or a y8 to build off of

 

Man, I have to get a new engine, lol.

I want one of those nice DOHC stock JDM's that push almost 200hp, wish I had the cash for that.
