Default header q's

so i'm looking now into getting a header. i have intake and catback. (aem sri and apexi ws2) so i've got a decent set up. i'm really leaning towards the dc ceramic. unless someone can really point me in a different direction. but a buddy of mine had an ls teg and had a 4-1 on there. he said he really enjoyed it and noticed pretty nice gains from it. he felt like it was the best way to go, because, the civic pulls pretty nice through 1st but after that the feel of "pulling" isnt there any more through second and third and so on. so....i figure that the 4-1 would be the way to go. plus it is one piece and it looks better. (less welds etc.) idk. could some one give me a thread or site where i could make a decision on which one to get. so far im stuck on the 4-1 one piece dc ceramic. thanks.

I may be biased, but i would go with the Hedman Chikara Headers. they are a 4-2-1 design and 2 piece, with noticeable gains down low and up high. I drove it on a rolling hill highway for 400kms and it never ran out of steam.

i looked at the hedman headers on summit racing. it said will not fit ex models. so..... i was looking at buying those but i didnt really want the black painted ones either. and i dont think they make 4-1.

Megan's are great as well in either 4-2-1 or 4-1 configuration. But what are you gonna be doing with the car to want that high of a powerband.
I know the civic is a high revving motor anyway, but do you need that much power so high in the rev range for highway or racing? or is it gonna be a street pounder?

i do drive high way every day. about thirty to fourty five min. but i am also looking this summer to go with a supercharger. if someone could give me some insight on which header would be the best for a supercharged set up. i'm just trying to get ready for it. i dont have much money right now.

that's actually a typo. They fit the ex's and don't fit the dx/lx/etc. And 4-2-1's provide better low-end and midrange power, so for the most part, you'll want a 4-2-1 for daily driving.

ah. ok. well that may change things. but i just found sov's little story while searching around about blowers. and ran upon his hatch build and now im tore all to pieces because it was so amazing and then he hit the deer. wow. but seing his ride makes me want to turbo.......hm... i hate this stuff. i was set on wanting a supercharger but seeing what he says in his write ups makes the turbo seem so much better. i'm torn....

turbo vs. supercharging is an age old debate that comes down to the kind of power and powerband you want to make. If you want to be a streetlight king i would go with a supercharger for it's linear boost and immediate response. but a turbo is not lacking here either with the right power combinations and a little engine revving. but a high speed freeway blaster will want a turbo for it's boost at speeds and that a cruising speed will keep the boost on and the turbo spooling. but the supercharger can do this too, but it can put on too much boost at WOT and if set up for low speed torque, it will become a bottleneck at high speeds. But there is a side to each story and i am no expert (didn't need to tell you that though) but there is a general outline for either. Read at your own risk!

well i'm no expert either. and if the funds become available supercharging seems the way for me to go because it seems more reliable and easier to do for a person who isnt the most experienced with automotives. i'm knowledgable about a majority of things and feel like installing a supercharger shouldnt be too tough. my girl friends father builds dragsters and is pretty smart. but....he doesnt work on street cars or imports. so.... our knowledge put together should make enough to put it on. plus it comes tuned for six pounds stock. i guess. but i'm looking for a header that will be a good addition for the supercharger.......
