Default header shield?

Is there any good reason to keep the shield over the header on?

If I'm correct, the heat shield over your stock header is good toleave oncause it keeps the heat from the header from getting to the engine bay as much, which would cause a loss of power. With an aftermarket header, the heat shield isn't needed because the headers are made of better metal that doesn't heat up as much or as fast as your stock one does.

i imagien you can get by without it if you REALLY need to take it off, but its usually a good idea to keep it on.

ok, im gonna take it off but the bolts are completly rusted on the bottom, is there a better way to get it off, the outer edges are striped fom the rust on the bolts.

try undoing the bolt when the header is hot, the expanding metal helps loosen the rust

i couldnt get mine off.. they just striped the heads off...

i ended up when removing my stock header i just left the shielf on and twisted the shield back to get to all the bolts to remove it....
