I'm new to the forum so bear with me. I just got a 1998 civic LX 4dr for my birthday. It's an automatic (which sucks). I was just wondering about where I should start customizing it. I have no idea where to begin. I don't want to be all Fast and Furious or anything. I just wnat it to look good and also add some power to it.

 

i'd say work from the outside in.(exterior to interior) try a lip kit, maybe a paint job(if you need it) wheels and stuff, its all up to your imagination[&:]

 

^^ also the typical intake, headers etc..

i dissagree w/ alurum. start with the engine...cuz its better to have a fast car that looks stock than a slow car that looks good.

 

i want to start with a air intake system and exhaust system. Which is better cat-back or full exhaust? I don't want it to sound crappy either.

 

full exhaust is the best. That means you want to get the following....


Header. Usually DC is the best, or GReddy
Hi Flow Cat. Random Technology makes the best, theyre expensive.....but youll pass SMOG tests. There are also magnaflow cats etc.
Cat-Back- Exhaust. This goes from the catalic converter back. The brands youll hear about on HCF are GReddy EVO II Magnaflow, Apexi World Sport or N1, Megan Racing, and Holley Thundermuff. Theyre all decent, but it depends on what you wanna spend.

If it were me id get the following.........

DC header-$250
Magnaflow catback $400, but comes with free high flow cat
You can probaly find these parts used on ebay though, hell i got my Magnaflow exhaust used for 150$......just shop around....or talk to SAM (pm missionspeed hes the man you wanna talk to) but definetly check out ebay. Good luck,

 

if your going to turbo it dont buy a header. thats just a wast of money.
