please help me
im in the uk

i have bought or wot i think is a import civic '92 1.6 sohc 16v VTi.
the car was origanally from japan, then to california, then to the uk.

now according to some people it is an ESi, some say an LSi, and some say an Si

now i thought the Si was the as a VTi sohc
and the SIr the same as the VTi dohc.

my log book for the car says VTi
internet sites with vehicle registration links says VTi
and the sticker on the car says VTi ( i know stickers can be changed)
so please can SOMEONE outthere please please tell me what bloody car it is!!!!!!

Sounds like you have the JDM sohc VTI 130bhp. Uk equivalent was dohc 160bhp, it is a vti yes but not the best.

 

uhm if it's 1,6 sohc it isn't VTi - it can be 1,6 sohc VTEC 125PS - VTi got DOHC VTEC 160PS, check out the engine number and then check the list of Honda engines

 

look on the block to the right of the tranny and tell us what that engine code is....then we can help you more

 

The jdm vti isnt the same as a uk/euro spec vti as the jap version equivalent of the vti was called sir, im guessing the jdm vti is roughly the same as the uk spec esi, so im still going with sohc 130bhp vti jdm spec.

Did a bit more digging and i was right, your d16 is like mine a single over head cam vtec engine(mine only has 110bhp) Yours is the eg shape 1992-1995 japanese version of the uk esi, we had esi 125bhp vti 160bhp japan had vti 130bhp sir 160bhp.
