Default how does this sound?

hey guys, i am new to the civic world and am in the process of getting a 7th gen civic ex coupe and wanted to give it a little bit more umpf without getting to crazy(money wise). my first upgrades i planned on getting was an AEM V2 intake,DC headers, and Greddy Evo2 catback exhaust. in order to put these on what other components might i need to make it run smooth and can i just bolt and play or will i need to take it to a shop? thanks guys, all help is appreciated.

Leave it stock. The D17 is the redheaded stepchild of all honda engines. It definetly was not meant for performance...........at all.

All those things will be direct bolt on, no hassles, no worries. Even though what Pete said is mostly true, if you really want to modify your 7th gen, do it. Nothing worse than the feeling of wanting to do something and getting shot down. Have fun with it!

ok so there is still some steps to take in getting the car so i can back out at any time, but your saying that 7th gen civics arent great motors('01 to be exact). i dont plan on going all out because this is just my daily driver but i want it to run good and such.i dont really plan on going crazy with this car so basically what im asking is..are those upgrades gonna be worthwhile and make my car sound and run better while givin it a little bit more horsies under the hood

If you are to get a 7th gen, try to find the Si. The EX coupeisn't worth it. All that was improved from my 1993 EX coupe is 2, yeah TWO, horsepower and 0.1L more. I think it reduced in mpg too! I still get up to 40mpg, where the 2001 ex is rated at 31-38 mpg. The 7th gen Si has a K20A3 engine with 155hp. But still the 6th gen Si has a B16A2 with 160hp. The 6th gen will be cheaper because it's older and you'll get more power. Bur if you're ultimately using the car for a daily driver, power doesn't matter, so get whatever.

To answer your question about if they are worth while... ...You'll notice a difference and it will sound a lot better. If that makes it worth while to you, shot, do it. You won't be a camaro anytime soon but you'll at least beat a neon or a cavalier Z24.

With internals and a turbo they can put down some very impressive numbers, but with bolt ons, you will have a fun car to drive, but it's not going to be super fast. Having said that, I love mine!!
