How much will I/H/E work alter my car's emissions?

 

emissions will still pass with flying colors if thats what you want to know

 

ok, i assumed that the greater efficiency would see the engine producing a greater amount ofpowerand thus emissions. Im assuming American emission regulations are as stringent as they are here in the UK

 

Not even close. The only state that actually cracks down is california.

 

california emissions are hard! i got a ticket for my exhaust and had to have it signed off by the state referee.

 

what kind of exhaust was it?

 

almost any aftermarket exhaust will get you a ticket one way or another. whether it's emissions or db levels. driving here in california sucks!

 

If you mess with your cat (get a new one, gut it, remove it, get a fake high flow one, test pipe, etc), you will fail emissions, but a header intake and exhaust do nothing to your emissions

 

intake w/o CARB sticker = INSTAN-FAIL-O in california lol.

 

yup like the other guys said..look for products with c.a.r.b exempt stickers and dont mess around with your catalytic convertor..mayb not instantly but for sure somewhere down the road that light will turn on and alot of smoke and backfiriong sounds will come out of the exhaust...atleast on my type s it did..lol
