I want to get the best headers I can afford. I need advise and help
Hello I have been looking on summitracings website and see pipe diameters that vary from 1 and a half to 1 and 3/8 I would love to get stainless just so it will last but of course I dont know what the heat inside the engine bay will do since I have never had headers before. 1995 civic LX 4 door 149,000 on it, (wanna replace the cat with a hi flow and thinking about getting a slighly more flow muffler than stock. I sooo do not want the briggs and stratton sound. But anyway I need a good header minus the S(yes I know I only have 1 header) I think I should go with ceramic but still kinda wavering between stainless and ceramic. I do need one that has an o2 sensor screw in spot. Im hoping this header upgrade will not make the engine run cooler cause I live in ohio in a town with nooooo smog checks but lots of snow and nut freezing weather. I have no clue what to get after reading all of this. summit racing is only 35 minutes drive from me. but Im wondering if they are very high priced. Im also noticeing that the o2 placement varies, why???? on some, it is placed where 2 of the main pipes come together, and on others it is placed in the exaust stream so that all 4 streams are flowing past the sensor. I would think having the sensor sense all 4 is better.
I got a megan racing header and I like it. I have the 4-2-1 and the only problems I got is a couple blown midway gaskets. I dunno if it puts too much strain on the 4-2-1's going up over 6k rpms because it's ment for midrange low range power or what. But DC sports you can get ceramic or stainless but is around $350 I believe, where as a megan header you can get for around $150 in just stainless steal.
They make way better header's but they are also way more expensive like $500+
