Intake manifold
How well do you guys think the intake manifolds help out. Im looking into theSkunk 2 intake and from what I can see it basically will just mount right up with having to buy anything else for it, Correct? Im sure it will help out on my 95 DX but is it worth the 300-400 dollars?

RE: Intake manifold
that is correct, i am waiting for skunk2 to release mine in Dec. it will add anywhere from 10-20hp. should be a good upgrade for not alot of money. let me know how it works out for you, i say go for it.

RE: Intake manifold
10-20 is expecting WAY too much. What is bad about a aftermarket intake mani is that it moves your powerband to the top rpms and kills your low end. (you know... the low end that has no power to spare) If you want significant gains with one you need to have a bigger cam, ported head, and the right size throttle body (not too small and not too big, either one and you are going to lose power). Another thing to worry about is if your intake will still fit correctly, I was going to get an Elderbrock manifold but it angles the throttle body a bit so my v2 intake wouldn't fit anymore if I did that.

RE: Intake manifold
Well said. You cant just get one thing and expect massive amounts of HP gains. You must get multiple like ^^ said. thats why they always say I/H/E because it just goes together. Kinda like peanut butter and jelly Bigger intake, bigger ports, Cam, etc... it flows. or goes together? lol

and usually you can tell if its vtec. The "selinoid" usually a green plug, located at the top left of the head. Next to the hosing going from the intake to the valve cover.
Also, if your spark plugs are in the front of the valve cover, rather than in the back.
