k so what exactly is the improved performance aspect of individual throttle bodies? they sound sweet..but what do they do to your performance? ive read low-mid torque increces...but thats about it. i know that cant be all because they are praised by people with 10 and 11 second cars.

an intake manifold can only flow enough air to a point. ITBs can flow way more. esp on high rpm apps. an intake manifold wont continue to make power after about 7800 rpms, but ITBs can continue to make power up to and over 10k. and tuning them is trickier, but can result in some insane throttle response. think about how too big of a throttle body can kill low end power. kind of like the exhaust theory, its about velocity. same deal with throttle bodies. if its too big, it can lower the velocity of the air coming in, and reduce your power until the engine gets into the higher rpms and needs as much as that big throttle body can flow. so if each cylinder has its own TB, then you can make each of them small enough to keep velocity up, but since the four of them make more surface area than one normal one, top end power is maintained. theres a lot more to them, but thats the gist.

yeah, for the street, most people seem to hose clamp screen mesh over them to at least keep out small animals and big leaves. still not as good as a filter though.

ehhhh, not really worth it, esp with a street turbo setup. i mean if you want those couple of ponies that bad, the risk is going to be less to just turn up the boost one psi and use a filter.

I think what sacs is eluding to is that for a street setup (running less than say 15 psi) the gains you would see wouldn't justify spending the money on the ITBs; it would cost much less, and produce similar if not the same gains, to turn up the psi 1 or 2 and get a tune.
