Magnaflow on 01 Civic LX Trouble
I had a Magnaflow cat back professionally installed (~$50 so it was worth it, or so I thought) at a muffler shop last week on a 2001 Civic LX Coupe. After driving the car a bit the day of the installation, I thought that the front pipe was hitting the pavement on tight turns, so I went back to the shop and they flipped one of the clamps that had its bolts pointing down to the ground. Well, the problem didn't go away, and now after driving over some rougher roads, I'm realizing that it wasn't hitting the pavement--it was hitting the undercarriage somewhere in the front because I feel it in my feet. I took a peak underneath and it looks like the front pipe is very close to the wall of the groove of a crossbar. The OEM pipe used to sit right in the middle of the groove, but the Maganaflow pipe is too straight and I can see how vibration would cause contact with the crossbar. It looks like there was no way to get around this during intallation unless the front pipe was bent. I'm not sure what to do about this. Is there an obvious mistake that was made during the install? Does anyone have experience with this kind of problem? Thanks!
nope, I bought it myself and they agreed to install it. That's why I'm looking for solutions other than
going back to the same shop since they apparently aren't experts, although they do sell the same
cat back. I emailed Magnaflow to find out if this is a recurring problem...
