Today I took off my muffler in my auto shop class. I sounds freaking sweet. When i floor it in first, it sounds like a street bike. low and deep in the bottom end and high and mighty in the higher end. I love it, but i have a few Q's. Will I get hassled for not having one(cops harrasing me about smog and noise)? also, does it affect smog. It's just a simple bolt on, so I can put it back together any time i want. Will this hurt my performance, by not keeping any backpressure. I noticed more punch in 3-5 gear, but going 40-60, in the lower rpms of those gears basically. I also noticed if i floor it from 750rpm in first it doesn't get that little kick and about 4500rpm. Is this because of the back pressure? I took some video clips of it maybe I'll post them if i can figure out how to upload them to my computer. Thanks!!!

you DONT need backpressure. dont believe anyone who tells you that BS. let them think it, but dont believe them. its like being atheist and aguing with a Christian or vice versa. youre just simply NOT going to sway them. and YES, the cops will hassle the hell out of you, and rightly so. there is a law that specifically says that you must have a muffler on your car, so you will get a ticket, and you will not get out of it. just get a cheap *** muffler. actually, has anyone put a cherrybomb on a civic? way back in the day, i had an 89 escort gt with a cherrybomb and it sounded pretty decent for being a little WT.

is there any way i can put somethignlike an empty one on? I like the sound the way it is, but i don't want a muffler. I don't want to quiet it, is ther a brand that, i guess, makes a fake one or something?! I would prefer that. That way, "But officer, It DOES have a muffler(thinking to myself, "doesn't do ****, but it's there...")!" Couldn't i get around it like that??

go for the catback bro'. improves performance, and performance sounds good. also there is a sound db level ordinance, if you are unmuffled you are breaking it. alot of mufflers dont pass (thats why some pr*ck stole my silencer).
