Now i think this is the right place. Anyways i am new to the whole modification thing to cars. but would like to get a new sound for my car. i talked to a guy and i am not looking for any extra horsepower but he said to go with a muffler tip. does anyone have any tips on good quality muffler tips that sound cool. my car is totally stock. and i read somewhere that certain tips wont work with the stock muffler and engine.

 

Please tell me your nottalking about one of the gay little tips from autozone that just go on the tip of your stock muffler! If you want a good sound id go with a catback exhaustbut if you wannakeep it simple and get a little better sound then you can just replace the muffler w/ an aftermarket one like borla (i love that sound). Just do some research and listen to what different ones sound like and make your choice. Id definetly go with a good catback, megan is good and they only run around $300.

 

A muffler tip won't make your car sound any different. You either have to replace the entire muffler, which is only good for the sound, or get a complete catback exhaust. Since you've clearly stated that you aren't interested in any extra horsepower, do some research on good mufflers for civics and find some sound clips.

 

get a cat back that way you get a lil power and way better look and will last alot longer then just replacing the muffler. and please don't get a autozone tip they look stupid and are pointless save up and do it right

 

either the guy u talked to was just screwin witcha tryin to make u into a ricer...or a complete retard...get a good cat-back, it'll cost more but it'll sound/perform/look much better. do it right the first time, u wont be kicking urself later on and end up spending more money.

 

If your state doesnt have emissions buy a decent muffler and take it to an exhuast shop and have them run piping straight back to the muffler. Youll get a ncie sound for under $200.

yea i dont think ryan meant take off the cat and the res....i think hes jus sayin u can get some larger custom piping put on the car at a local shop instead of buying a bolt on catback...........

 

yea the only downside of having a muffler shop do that is the quality of the pipe is still crappy and won't last as long as a stainless steel pipe that you would get on a quality cat back also the muffler shop will probably bend it like the stock one which most cat backs make them go straighter for quicker flow (the main reason for gaining power)
