Muffler...what else?
Okay i put a muffler on my 2002 civic around two months ago (didn't know bout exhaust systems cuz just got it around that time) and i was wondering know what should i have done in that "area" to make my car sound better (it sounds pretty nice already) and give me added horsepower and better performance. What do you all suggest?
This is what my muffler looks like

You should have bought a full "Cat-Back" exhaust rather than just a muffler

Yeah didn't know that at the time when i got the car (was new to the whole modifying your car thing). So thats why i'm asking what should i do now?

RE: Muffler...what else?
right now, i'm contemplating whether or not to just get a nice muffler. i can't afford an entire catback right now and if i get the muffler alone, i could put it on myself and when i get the money later, i could buy the larger tubing... its a good thing that exhaust are cumulative in the sense that you can get one part at a time and at the end when you have it all, the performance will be the same as if you had installed an entire catback
in all honesty, a muffler vs a entire catback sound exactly the same, and the performance gains with the catback are minimal. IMO, somebody might wanna correct me, but if you keep the OEM piping and just add a muffler, you'll actually have better performance + a better sound. if you got the larger tubing, you'd lose low end torque, which civics need desperately

Seriously dont waste money putting it on piece by piece... just buy the pieces and build it up until you're ready to do it all at once...
Run 2.25 on your pipes... I got 2.5 and it is really loud in my car so i compensate with lots of dynamat... which weighs my car... 2.5 is the way to go... a muffler will not increase any kind of horsepower and even with a catback you're not going to have any more than 1 or 2 horsepower on it... get the header and hi flow cat and you'll then feel it.
