Default Not the heat shield

Hello, I've read things on the forum for a while but never really posted anything. I bought a 2000 honda civic ex about a month ago and lvoe the car, except for a rattle it has. Everytime I get around 2500 rpm I can hear a rattling noise. I looked it up and thought it was the heat shield but after removing it I can still hear the noise. Is there more than one heat shield? Any other ideas that the problem coudl be? Thanks for any help

It isn't the muffler hitting the bumper, however I did get it to stop today by hitting my hand on the muffler but after a while the noise would start again, I couldn't look at it much more because it started snowing

Don't worry, I have the same problem too. I also posted a topic like this. From what the tech told me is that it's coming from the Engine and makes that rattle. They also said, it's nothing to worry about, but still it gets annoying. But I'm still working on the problem. Cuz it never did that before, but after i've put in a new resanotor and Headers it's been doing it alot.

There are multiple heat shields, which one did you remove?

^ yeah true Forty, there is more than one heat shield. Also the hangar thats holding the muffler up could be loose or something. Is the rattle in back near hte muflfer or in the front, near the exhaust manifold?

smae problem w/my 95vx. but i think i've tracked it down to the resonator, it sounds like something came loose in there and rattles at various rpms.

I took the heat shield off of the header, the noise is coming from the back passenger side, I think it is something holding the muffler on needing replaced, hopefully this weekend it will be warmer around here and I can get a better look at it

get someone to rev the car to the point where you hear it, and then walk arroudn the car and try to find the area it is comming from.

My guess is if it only does it at that one point that the baffles may be going in the muffler. just something to throw out there
