O2 sensor help

my friend told me that If i disconnect the ground on my battery that the check engine light would go off after I have connected my O2 sensor. I did that and the check engine light still came on! I was wondering since I extended the harness about 15 feet, if that would cause a problem?
why did you extend it 15 feet?!

yeh... why 15'? i only did 6' and i still had abou 6" of slack... but i ran mine up to the firewall and down under the car... maybe you ran yours around the engine?

yeah, ran around the engine bay which is why It was so long. I figure that I might as well just re wire the whole thing and make it a lot shorter.

what are simulators supposed to look like, and could some one give me a direct link? Im having the hardest time trying to find one.

the length of the extension really does not matter. if you don't have a cat then you'll get the light every time no matter how many times you take the ground wire off your battery. get an o2 simulator or just take the check engine light bulb out of the console. - i took the bulb out...

take the bulb out? thats an odd thing to do? how do you know if you haave a problemo?

its in open loop mode if the lights on, so you might loose perfomance. and u deff will get worse fuel mileage.

it looks as tho its just a resistor. so if you guys have one, can u tell me if this is true? and tell me how many ohm resistor it is?
