Default Questions about exhaust and cut outs

I have a 2001 civic dx sedan (all stock) and i would like to get a good air intake and possibly cut outs for my car. Ive been researching the AEM V2 CIA and i think its a pretty good one(right??)
Also, i have been looking at cut outs. The cat on my car is just below my headers (according to owners manual) so cut outs would still be restrictive. I dont want to buy a full exhaust set, my friend did for his 02 eclipse gs and the sound bugged me after a while on the freeway, so i want to get cut outs to keep sound in my control and keep a stock look. Anyways, should I buy new headers, have them hit the cut out, then hit the cat, then just go out the stock exhaust(I really dont want to do all that). Im really confused about how to do all this for not too much money. Also, with cut outs does the car the car run really rich on fuel (i believe the exhuast it misses the second o2 sensor)?? Please tell me what a good set up would be.

ok, well first, the AEM V2 CAI is a great intake. go for it. Second, not all exhausts sound annoying on the freeway. Actually alot dont. What kind of exhaust does your friend have? Also, im not too fond of cut-outs, but I do know that the resonator and muffler are vital when it comes to sound. Make sure you get a good sounding muffler, and a resonator so its not so damn annoying

My friend has a Greddy exhuast. doing 80 on the freeway at like 3000 rpm in top gear madea certain tone that kinda of annoyed me after an hour or so. Also, i want to keep a stock look and sound (except when cut outs are open), but i also dont want to spend too much. the intake after shipping and tax will probly be around 300, and cut outs run around 200, and i have a friend who will weld em on for free. good headers can run for around 300 and good cat back exhaust is 500-600 (as far as i know). Id rather spend 500 than over 1000. Cut outs are what im going for, cheap performace.

I have a Thermal R&D Stealth Catback Exhaust....ran me $500. Dunno what anyone else thinks of it, but I like it. I purposely researched and spent more $ on one that wouldnt sound like a weed-wacker.

well if u want to get a cutout it will make u lose power and make no sense and sound way bad. the only time u want to do a cutout is if u have f/i like a turbo. i know it is a great idea but u will lose power with no back pressure.
