noob question i installed a header last summer if i take it of to paint do i have to replace header and donut gaskets?

 

yes, well maybe not doughnut if you just detach it from the block and let your exhaust hang down, but if you are taking the whole header off then yes, both should be replaced.

 

If you paint your header that will be a waste of time. The paint is just going to melt off like a candle.

 

Not if you use paint actually meant for a header...we're not talking about latex house paint here.

Edit: Forgot to add, that I have had mine painted flat black for about a year. No damage...(???) Yea, it'll burn off for the first 30 minutes or so, that's when you bring the car outside, and let is run with the hood open without you or anyone else near it. I used 500 degree black primer and 500 degree flat black spray paint from Pepboys.

 

im going to use 2000 degree paint ceramic mix primer and paint in a can and maybe header wrap. also what is the best after market gaskets to buy or should i just go with napa also i noticed the holes in the gaskit that came with the ebay megan header were the same diameter as the stock header maybe a little bigger is that normal ?????
