Default thought's on custom piping

ok, my friend that owns an accord told me that buying a catback sytem is just a waste of money and time. SO he advised me to get custom piping all the way down preferably 2". Now. My question is, how much will you think it will be to do this and will it be as efficient as those systems? i will prob add a Apexi N1 muffler or 5zigen later on or after. thx guyz

yea just make sure they mandrel bend the piping and its good quality piping. The N1 exhaust tends to be really noises and humms loud when cruising on the freeway. I have one just like it and thought it was cool at first but now its just annoying.

Heres what you need

- Two (2) 2.25" inlet/outlet 18" length magnaflow resonators/mufflers ($65 on eBay)
- An exhaust shop to weld you custom 2.25" piping from the cat back.

Should be around $250-$300, it'll sound good

Keep in mind that "custom" piping is probably steel or aluminized steel tube. A good cat-back like the Magnaflow is 300-series stainless steel tubing that carries a million-mile warranty. In other words, you get what you pay for. Anyone who drives in snow-belt states should know that having a stainless steel exhaust is not a waste of money. Even if you drive in the rain, it's nice having an exhaust that won't corrode.

^ i live in upper michigan and got some custom catback (almost exactly like i mentioned before) and its held strong, definitely no rusting or breaking or anything bad. Been through two winters and about to start a third, guess i've just been lucky lol i had to get the custom because my OEM exhaust finally rusted right off though, undoubtedly from the snow/salt on the roads all winter.

But if you dont wanna go through the trouble, a Megan Drift Spec cat-back isn't much more (if any at all) then a cheap custom route and it sounds just fine IMO

why two? i really don like two mufflers on civics that much looks rice IMO depends on the car and internals tho. I went to a shop and they told me 2" piping from the headers down would be about 165 (but u must have the muffler) what r ur thoughts?

It won't be in parallel, the resonators will be in series with each other deadening the sound creating a deeper tone.

If you want, you can just buy a used cat-back exhaust system, it will cost pretty much the same with higher quality finish and fit. Most exhaust systems use:

exhaust manifold -> cat -> mid piping -> resonator -> more piping -> muffler
