Default Tuning after installing performance muffler?

Hey everyone,

I'm new here and I have my first Honda Civic, a blue 2013 LX coupe. I love this car and I'm probably never going back to anything else.

Now, I'm not really educated on this kind of thing. Back in June I had a performance muffler put on just to feel a little more badass. I'm female and guys try to race me all the time. It's amusing!

Anyway, someone told me not too long ago that I need to have my engine tuned. I'm drawing a blank. The guys who welded the muffler on didn't mention anything about it and I have no idea what it means. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Not for just a muffler. Tuning will get your more power, but if you don't plan on going bigger, don't bother with it.

Haha thanks guys I appreciate it. The person who told me was just some random guy who noticed the car when I was out shopping and tried to strike up a conversation. I wanted to be sure because when I took it up to the dealership for its 15k service yesterday and asked about performance pieces the advisor had no idea what I was talking about.

It's because you're a chick. (reason he brought up the car stuff) Wanted to sound knowledgeable I guess.

Service advisors don't have information about mods and tuning since they are all done outside of a Honda dealership. Actually, it is considered witchcraft to them

well most dealership service advisors don't know what there talking about either. there job is to sell you things you don't actually need. if you wanted pointers you should have asked a shop tech.

That's my fault for assuming that all guys know all things about all cars.
