Default V2 intake Vs. Bomz racing intake(ebay)

Ive been looking at Cold air intakes for my 02 Civic EX and I was just wondering what makes a V2 intake so much better than a cheaper Bomz racing intake for it to be $150 more than the bomz kit.... thinking about it dont they both get the same job done?... I just dont want to be paying for the name brand if there both going to give me the same results.... jus wanted to post this and get some opinions thanks.

Technically speaking, V2 against any other intake is like VTEC against non-VTEC

I've actually been wondering the same thing. I have a bomz racing cai that I got off of ebay a while back, but the V2 looks so nice and I've heard nothing but good things. Thinking about getting the V2 sometime.

Research & Design is your answer.

AEM basically started the cold intake movement and they've had years ahead of the competition to perfect their product (a long tube, essentially)

but any engineer or scientist knows that moving air molecules is a science.

you have to consider metal conductivity, intake angles, intake width, hydrolock, blah, blah.

if you want to buy something nice get the AEM.

if you want to get something cheap get the ebay $20 special.

both are going to do roughly the same thing, one is just going to yield slightly better horsepower and engine response.

the thing about the v2 is how it works. i dont really understand the cocnept behind it...but it has a second pipe around the intake pipe that crates vibrations that somehow increases airflow. its the same basic concept that a resonator uses to quiet an exhaust. i dont exactly understand how it applies to the airflow...but its given dyno-proven results.

against a v2...a bomz racing cai is a completely different animal...but against say the AEM CAI (or any other brand-name cold air intake) theonly difference is the labling and fitment (and filter, but i'll get to taht in a sec). generally speaking, the off-brand intakes are made to be used on both 5th and 6th generation cars. they can fit both, but you have to work to get them to fit either. with the name brand ones, theyre made specifically for one car. that means that fitment is perfect for them.

the filter is different too. AEM and Injen intakes both use top of the line K&N filters...the off-name ones use knock-offs that look like K&N's but fall apart and dont flow as well.

my opinion: get an off-brand cold air intake and a good K&N filter.

Feel free

VTEC (or any other variable valve timing system for that matter) has been created to work equally well both on low rpm range and high rpm range. The same goes for V2. All other intakes sacrifice lower rpm range to get better higher rpms.

^ if you put it that way, i'll agree

i thought you meant the difference of the intakes was equivilent to the difference between a VTEC car and a non VTEC

a vtec car vs a non vtec car = big difference

v2 intake vs other intake = not as much difference

conceptually though, you hit it right on
