Default Valve Cover

This question is probably already posted somewhere on here but i'm gonna ask it anway. On the 96-98 Y8 and probably the single cam 99-00 vtec motors, the valve cover is just stamped with honda. I know that the 1.5l vtec motors in the 95 civic's valve covers are stamped with vtec. When people that don't know alot about hondas look under my hood they see my D16y8 that's stamped with honda and want to argue that it isn't vtec. What I am wanting to know is if the valve covers from the 95 vtec civics are interchangable with the 96-98 civic vtecs?

I don't konw for sure... just write vtec on yours with a sharpie, that'll show 'em

just kidding of course, but on a serious note, do you not know any other way to show them that its vtec? If somewhere were to challenge me with that arguement, I think I could go on a rant long enough to shut them up pretty damn quick.

Yea man... I know other ways to show them...the solonoid, the sound and feel of when it kicks in, but they are mostly chevy guys and haven't a clue. And I too like the look of the "Vtec" valve cover.

Yeah, there's a lot of other ways to show that it's vtec. I guess if they're chevy guys the Y8 stamp won't help, the selinoid won't help... I think it says in the owners manual that the EX is a 127 hp vtec.

You argue back and say "you obviously don't know a lot about Hondas."

When i first got my civic, i brought it over to my best friends house to show it to him. I poped the hood and said i got a vtec engine in there and he told me i didnt, they stamp that on all the valve covers. Well i let him drive it for 10 minutes while i was in it and when he hit that vtec mark he's mouth and eyes opened up and said oh **** it does have vtec.....classic.

Pete, can you not hear/feel yours switch over? I can't feel it much, but I can DEFINITELY hear it, in fact when I took my MEgan exhaust off for the winter, and put the quiet stock one back on, I was worried that there was something wrong because my vtec was so loud.
