Everyone has different opinions of whats rice and whats not. Just because you replace the muffler doesnt mean its rice. You dont have to get the full cat-back system to enjoy a decent sounding car. If you replace you oem muffler with a nice looking aftermarket one, and its tucked up in there nice and neat, you wont be labeled rice by most people. Now if your muffler is sticking out of the back of your car a foot or at a weird angle, then I consider that rice. Some cat-back systems are rice, especially the ones that have huge piping. On a honda, bigger is not better. Having large exhaust piping can actually hurt your HP. Its your car so do what you want with it.

Megan Racing has a good Catback out for somewhat cheap, in the 300's, as other Catbacks can cost up in the 500's. Search youtube for Megan Catback Exhaust clips. Your better off saving 2 paychecks and get something that it authentic then spending half of it on something that is a gamble, you get what you pay for.

IMHO, what it really boils down to is sound. Typically, a muffler welded onto the end of stock exhaust sounds like ****, period

so is my exhaust system considered rice. i have a Apex-i N1 Turbo Pipe (90mm inlet and 115mm outlet) with custom pipe from the headers back to the muffler with no cat. to me the turbo version has a deeper note than the N/A version
