Default Where to buy exhaust manifold heat shield?

Hi Everyone,

My exhaust manifold heat shield on my 99 Civic needs to replaced. The bottom of it rattles because it rusted through where it is held on by a single bolt. All I am looking for is the heat shield because the manifold is perfectly fine. Where in the world can I buy one? I've been scouring Google/eBay/Craigslist on and off for weeks now. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Keith

its your choice, but you really dont need any of your heat shields, most people I know along with myself, just rip them off once they start rattling, and I have never heard of any problems with doing so. As long as nothing is closer than a couple inches from the manifold once the shield is off, you should be fine.

having a manifold with no heat shield is no different really than having an aftermarket header which doesnt come with a shield.

I don't know if I can even get the bottom bolt off anyway since it is so rusted. I have the heat shield off right now, I might just keep it that way. I would imagine that this heat shield has to have some function, I wonder what it is.

As a side note, my cat bottom heat shield has been gone for years with no issues, but then I don't park on dry grass...

The heat shield technically protects anything near it from getting too hot. However, all have been removed from my cars without any ill effects.

^ Same, even before I put my header on I pulled the heat shield and ran the oem exhaust mani bare for a while. I don't have any under my car between the exhaust and the body either. Not completely necesary, just keeping the heat isolated.

Check your local junk yards. In general, Honda does not install unnecessary engine parts.

Question Heat Shield

Where can I find this part.. the pipe and shield since they are sold as one piece for a reasonable price? My shield was rattling so the dealer removed it but I park on grass and worry about fire.

Oh sorry! I think I personally won't able to tel exactly about where it is to be found . You should check Honda tech.com and also e-bay for more reference and keep updated.
