winter is coming..
do u think i should give my short ram weapon-r secret weapon intake up for a injen cai? the filter on mine right now is foam and 1 of the best u can get. do u think it would really make a difference and give me a little cooler air or would it be a waste of money?
In winter I'd go SRI, once I was on the freeway getting my insurance and it was cloudy but no rain the whole day. On my way back my it started to rain HEAVILY. My car sucked up lots of drizzle from the tires spinning water into my filter and my car stalled in the middle of the freeway. Luckily I was on the right lane and didn't cause any troubles, but I did have lots of WHITE smoke come out of my exhaust (I'm guessing it was a lot of water vapor) anyway CAI's are a pain in the rain. I'm going to go Injen / K&N / or AEM SRI soon, for the winter haul.

CAI should be fine, if it snows alot in ur area and they dump alot of salt or sand on the roads, keep an eye on the filter and make sure u clean it maybe 1-2 months just to be safe..
A cold air intake will NOT harm your engine unless you drive through enough water to COMPLETLY SUBMERGE the air filter. I used to have a cold air intake on, and NEVER had a prob with it, even in heavy rain. In order to "hydrolock" your engine you have to completly submerge the air filter and suck up a bunch of water.........rain wont do anything.
No I didn't have that filter to filter out any sucked in water that trinkled in. No I did not have it completely submerged in water, it was just water flying off the front tire and there was a lot of rain. Talking like maybe 1/2 to 3/4 an inch of it on the roads. No I didn't have the fender cover on. I dont even have one, I got my car without those lol :X That would have helped tremendously though, a lot less water would have gotten into the filter imo.
Yes be careful for dips or nasty puddles that might submerge your CAI, that will just kill your motor.

im not all that worried about the rain (or snow cuz i live in texas lol) and also the injen CAI i was looking at can convert to a short ram by taking the extension off and putting the filter on just the first part of the intake. so its a good deal, but my question is will it really do all that much for hp gains and better accleration and sucking in colder air or is it a waste of about $250 of my money?

i got a cheap CAI and havent had any problems yet.... no sputering or anything... and i take it thru mikes express car wash quite a bit.LOL if thier underbody wash sprayers wont sputter my engine to much im realy not scared.LOL
tho i have thought about just choping down my old CAI paint it black and then puting the filter on inside the engine bay just for the winter tho......
