Tinting front windows is illegal in illinois, i'm planning to get the front tinted anyway with light tint from 50-80

by any chance any1 got tints ranging from 50-80? lol,

 

it IS illegal to have tints on the front windows in IL but i still have it 16yr. old driver and havent been stopped for it yet .. i have 35% on mine and it looks aight.

 

As far as I know they're changing to law to make it illegal to have tint on any windows in IL. That's what I've heard anyway, even tho it's yet to happen.

My boss has gotten pulled over for it before, it really just depends on what mood whatever cop pulls you over is in. If they wanna pull you over and ticket you for it they will.

It's also illegal to hang stuff on your rear view mirror but I've been pulled over many times and have a ton of stuff hanging from mine, but I've never gotten a ticket for it.

Well tints and the stuff hanging is all just probable cause for a cop to stop u. If they feel that something su****ious is going on in the car .. w/e it may be those are just factors in which a cop has probable cause to pull u over. I so far have been lucky to not have been pulled over for either.. but i dont hang anythign from my mirror.

 

Cops can use it to pull you over yes, but if they really want to they can pull you over specifically for the tint as well. That's what happened to my boss, he wasn't speeding or swerving or doing anything wrong and the cop comes up and starts going on about his tint. If the cop wants to pull you over for tint of some other BS he can and will, doesn't need any other reason. It was really bad a few years ago, cops used to have a quota here and at the end of the month cops would be pulling people over for all kinds of stupid crap trying to meet thier quotas.

I really can't believe I've never been ticketed for the crap in my rear view... I'm really forgetful so I hang tons of crap from it so I don't forget it (name tags, mp3 players, parking permits, work keys, etc etc). I'm sure it'll happen sometime tho.

 

heh. I mean i doubt they will do it but they can and have every right to if they need to pull u over. I would be pissed if I was holdin' and was driving and a cop stopped me cuz I had an air freshener hanging from my mirror.

 

Yeah I got pulled over twice in one month for the tints on my intrepid. It was dumb as hell and the second cop actually scratched some of it off and told me to get it taken completly off by the end of the week and if saw me again with them on he would give me a ticket.

 

Thats total BS that he scratched it. Thats like vandalism and **** whether hes a cop or not. I wouldve flipped **** on him.

 

Yeah well I did and whatever apparently after looking online it is legal for them to do. And I talked to my uncle who is a cop out our way and he said a lot of their guys do that just for "fun". ****ing pigs.
