I have the chance to buy a good trunk lid from a 99 Civic, but was wondering what is involved in the rear end swap? Is it just the trunk lid and tail lights or is it more?

the only things different on 96-98 and 99-00's are the tails and rear bumper.

 

i am thinking that the 96-00 rear should fit the same. i know the tail lights does. so i'm assuming the trunk should also. i may be wrong though since i don't research about the 96-98 civic models as i own a 99

 

ya the bumper cover and the taillights is the only difference. they bolt up to any 96-00 as long as its a coupe... to a coupe....
or sedan to sedan...
or hatchback to hatchback....
you didnt specify so im unsure.
a coupe trunk lid wont fit a sedan, and im unsure about the bumper cover.

Yeah, i knew about the body style differences (thanks anyway though)

yeah i like the look of the 99-2000 rears a little bit more and i can buy a trunk lid with the lights for $40 with no damage or rust, so i'm gonna go ahead with it. the bumper can be picked up later i suppose LOL

you can pick up a 99-00 trunk and tails for $40? those tails go for $80 -$100 in my area and on ebay. if it is, good find

 

Yea 40 bucks for everything is a deal, last time that something like that was here they were asking 140.
