Default another DIY led glow bottle cup holder ;)

ok ill try to keep it quick and simple WHICH IS ALREADY IS!!!!!

used 10 3mm prewired leds from http://www.oznium.com/prewired-leds
and only 2 sticks and a hot glue gun. available at Wal-Mart.
and a dremel or just a hand held drill, I used a little dremel with a small drill bit which was a PERFECT fit for these 3mm leds!

first pull your center console trim cover off and remove the cup holder from the car.
then just a few marks where you want the leds. I suggest towards the shifter... that way the leds are hidden when not light and when light you cannot see them directly!

and find a drill size that will fit the head of the led thru it BUT not the little bottom of the led! that way it will not stick thru the plastic much. it makes a nice guide and dept control!

with with the prewired leds gently bend the head of the leds to a 90degree angle and simply poke the led into the hole, and then use the hot glue gun on each led backside to the cup holder. do no more than 3leds at a time and hold them and blowing on them helps as well to cool the hot glue so the leds are held firmly before ya let go.

THEN after all leds are initially glued in place.... put more hot glue further back. which will just help the wires to be held firmer so they wont come loose and fall out after some road vibrations.

then simply twist all the red-positive wires together...... and then same with the black-negatives.
and simply wire them up to your desired switch. WHICH you should remember to ALWAYS use a inline fuse!
no one likes a car fire from a shorted out wire!

and then simply reinstall and ENJOY......

this picture is it on my dresser with no bottles in the cup holder...
really bright.

and blue does work the best with my favorite Gatorade...
or orange for your favorite orange Gatorade...LOL blabla bla to your drink of choice!
and if you REALY want to you cup holder changeable... just drill more holes and different color leds of your choice with more switches and select your own mood glowing
THE END

I know it sounds like a lot........ BUT ITS REALY QUITE SIMPLE

though this is another project which id like to TRY and make.... same leds and stuff BUT with some different wiring which I still need to figure out... BUT i think if i used a small capacitor and a old school car flasher unit i can get a cool flash/fade trick
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd_qbQHao9I

this is just with my home 110 to 12volt being unplugged and plugged back in quickly. LOL
but it was enough to really get me thinking of a sweet custom idea!
after i figure out how to wire it up like this i will install it in my car!
i bought this other cup holder off eBay so i could do this in my own time. which i FINALY decided to do tonight!

HOPE YOU ENJOY.........

Nice! that looks so sick. I would keep a drink there just to show it off. If I had cup holders I would do somthing like that, I think I would just use 1 led for each side just to add a effect.

well with 1 led for each it wouldnt be a even glow.... i thought about just using 8 leds BUT the more leds the more even the glow is so i said why not use all of them

i also thought about doing it in the rear side pockets..... might just have to find a smaller bottle to fit.LOL

it will work in either of them....... and i believe these cup holders are also interchangable....

same idea on ANY vehicle.....
ive wasnted to do this to my truck for along time BUT just never did it....

its really easy to do! or if you want to be even cheaper you can just use some regular leds and have fun soldering the resistors and wires together.... which can be a PITA after so many leds!
