Has anybody spray painted their original headlights black? (the housing)

a friend told me that he had done this to his old car. (96 civic)
and he said it looked cool.

has anyone done it? lol or is he just trying to make me experiment on my headlights lol

yes people do it but you got to make sure that it seals up good when you put it back together or your going to get moisture. i would reccomend getting a cheap duplicate pare of lights so you can do it to them.

You can put them in the oven to soften the sealant holding them together. Pull off the front plastic and tape off any areas that arent being painted. Ive seen them painted to match the car too. And I know a guy that did the housing in bronze and it looks sick on his black car...Id like to see it on a white or green car too though. My housings are a metallic gunmetal color.

Yeah, the glass one would be different. I don't remember if there are clips on that or what.

@plethoric: i think colormatched would be sick, my colors dap so its not like a store bought color, i would have to get it custom mixxed in a can for me haha

Note you guys he said he has a 93 not a 96-00. Headlights are different. The 92-95 headlights don't have the big round part that everyone tapes off. There is more of a rectangular piece that is on the left and the right of the bulb you can tape off and paint the rest of the housing, but it defiantly affects the light that comes out of the headlight. I know because I did it, but having fog lights does help.

So you can get the cover off by softn the seal in the oven? Cause I was tryn to figure out how to get it off so I can clean the sun damage!
