Ok so I went to the police station right after work to see what the law really is in California. As of 1999 you can not have any window tint on the passenger and driver side windows, however your back windows and you rear can be tinted whatever you want.

So I went into the place I got the tint from and he said he would remove the tint off my driver and passenger no charge so I just did it so I can write off the Fix it ticket. Also he said if I decide to redo the driver and passenger side windows he will do them no charge as well. Not a bad deal but I'm kinda skeptical on doing it again cause cops where I live have nothing better to do.

Appreciate all the feedback guys.
Yeah I live in Riverside. I tinted my Si right away.Back window and rear qt windows dark. I did driver and passenger window medium because my interior is charcoal black. So going darker in the front it would make it look darker. I forgot the % But Ive done a lot of driving on that toll road (241)and no problem with cops...
If youdecide to do the fronts go light so you won't have any problems. Interior color is a Key factor how dark the windows will look.

Good luck

Wow in Indiana we only have to let 30% light in. We might as well just have Black paper over our windows. XD And we can have as much as we want on the front windshield as long as it is above the AS-1 line.
30% really isn't that dark. Its 27% where I live. My tinting is 25% and my brother's tinting is 10%. I wish it were darker....

In California, the only tint allowed on the driver / front passenger window is stock. Anything else and you can get ticketed...

Here in the ****ty state of ohio i've been pulled over 5 times, yes five times, JUST for tint. The first time I was pulled over, he told me the violation will be entered into a records system that says I got a warning, and that next time I will get a ticket. That was 4 warnings ago, as someone else said the locals never carry the meters with them....I only have 35% on the front windows too, which isn't really that dark.

Worst day ever? I'm pretty sure people have had worse days. You could have wrecked your car, your car could have been stolen, someone could have died... etc. It's just a ticket.
