Default In dash car amp

In my civic i dont have passenger air bags, but i found a civic dash that has the passenger air bag deployed and i can get it for $50.

I also found this picture

I know thats not my dash, but would there be anything that would make it difficult to put the amp in where the air bag was? will i need to make a bracket to hold it?

wow. no replies at all?

First off, I would not recommend putting an amp there, mainly because it will be in direct sunlight, and would cause the amp to heat up immensely.

second, if you wouldn't really need brackets for it, it would depend on how big the amp was, as long as you aren't going to be using the airbag, why not just start drilling holes wherever need be.

third, I would think that it wouldn't be that difficult to install, considering you already have the dash apart, and can run the wires that way, my only concern really would be figuring out how you are going to keep it cool.

that is just my opinion, and by the looks of it, the only one that really feels like helping.

I wouldn't do it, but to each his own, it would work, yes, and would look alright, but i would be afraid of overheating/burning the thing and everything around it.

I planned on covering it back up witht he air bag "lid", would that keep it cooler? or do you think it would need some kind of insulation?

that would help, yes, but i would want air to go through there. there is a reason that dashboards crack with age, and it is not because of the airflow, it is because of the beating of the sun.

I would rather have the amp under the front seats than on the dash.
