RE: DIY Lambo Door Conversion

Well, most places WILL NOT install is if you bought it through someone else. If you are really serious about getting a kit, call the shops around you and ask. It's a very custom mod for a regular auto shop so you'll have to find an autosports shop or a customizing shop. Ask them what they suggest. My guess is that they'll want 1000+ for labor.

Oh, and on a side note for everyone else. This thread was intended for others wanting to do the mod, to give some guidance. I didn't ask, "Do you approve? or How does this look?" I really did not appreciate your unneccessary responses. I don't hate on the mods, or lack-there-of, that you have done that I don't like. I keep it to myself becuase it's your car, not mine. Now, if you ask for my opinion, I'll give it to you. But until I ask for yours, back off and go harass someone else.

All I'm saying is you will get tired of it. But if you only spent 400, you can't beat that at all. In fact, for 400 dollars I don't think its that bad of an idea.
And there is no doubt other people love it, because when you open the doors no one is expecting them to open like that. I get compliments from everyone that see's them, from gas station attendee's to hair dressers, no joke.
Best of luck, still waiting on pictures too.

Did you have to roll the fenders?

That looks really good, a lot better than my cars doors. With mine the doors look akward, yours flows much better.
What hinges did you use for $400 and how long did the install take?
Any alignment issues?

Chopsta, what do you mean awkward? They look sweet. Although, I bet if you lowered your car, you wouldn't be saying they look awkward. Sometimes it's the huge wheel gap that throws to flow off.

What hinges did you use for $400:
I got the hinges used with bad shocks and ball joints. So, I replace the bad parts, greased the fittings and bolted it on.
Here's a stock photo of what they look like:

They are just like Decah's design, but slightly modified.
It looks like you can get it new here:

But it's 1,300 euro ($1780 usd)

and how long did the install take?:
I spent 5 hours with the first side, the majority of that time was admiring what the lambo door looks like, since I had never seen one in person.
The next day I spent 3 hours on the other side.
I did all the work myself, but I HIGHLY suggest having someone help you at least hold the door up for aligning purposes.

Any alignment issues?:
Both of the door close just fine. I have to them slightly, very slightly, yet. That will be when I get around to it. There is no rubbing or anything like that.

Why did you guys have to roll your fenders? I didn't need to roll mine.

For the person who ask how much labor would be, I paid about $540 to have mine installed. Looking back now I wish I would have done it myself but I didn't know anything about cars back then so I didn't want to try.

I will make one of mine in a few days, I would do it now but someone broke into my car and I still need it fingerprinted so I'm not touching it and messing something up until that's done.

you just have to bend the fenders a little so the hinge doesn't scrape. I also went the extra mile when u open the door if you go past the point it bends the whole bracket so i tach welded a lil piece of metal to the inner fender just to keep my mind at ease. got mine for 400 to from someone on this site. def not a hard mod to do just have to be real careful.
