anyone ever try getting carbon fiber parts on ebay and risk quality to see if they are decent.. IE.. i am looking at those carbon fiber lights i keep seeing as well as hoods, fendors, spoiler .. any input?

 

I don't know I need to pick up some CF side mirrors myself.

 

for the hood only go with VIS, and same spoilers, fenders might be kind of hard to find VIS

 

ya alot of stuff on there is carbon fiber look alike iv notice...and i dont no about buying it off e-bay just because theres so many different qualitys that you can buy, some have "sceliton" backing to make then stronger, cheaper ones are not coverd in the back, cheaper ones will fade after a couple months, and cheaper ones at the sides wont be smooth and and coverd over...so yea..you got to be careful with carbon fiber on e-bay

 

Pretty much go by the basic principles, if its too good to be true it probably is.

I bought some "Carbon Fiber" eyelids... well, I bought black ones but the dude didn't have any so I told him to just send me "CF" ones. Anyways, they were just plastic with CF looking (didn't look like CF even) stickers on them. I sanded them down and painted them black though.

If you're going to buy anything big, a hood or something, on eBay. Read EVERY word of the auction. If the words "look" "type" "style" appear anywhere in or around important details hit the back button.

Examples:

Carbon Fiber "type" wing
VIS "style" hood
Skunk2 "type" exhaust

 

I bought my hood for my evo off of ebay. Just remeber you get what you pay for. I paid a lil over 600 bucks and mine looks good and fits good.

EDIT: Forgot to mention they had an article in Import Tuner a couple years back, so they're legit.

 

i bought some carbon fiber look m3 style mirrors for my 94 ex off of ebay. i knew they were fake but they actually look really good, i was surprised.
