Fiberglassing Door Pods

Fiberglassing Door Pods
Visiting my dad in south carolina this week and started beginning fiberglassing a possible door pod for my alpine type-r speakers I plan to get. It was my first time fiberglassing and I actually don't think I did half bad. Its not the best but it will be strong enough. So far, since I don't have the speakers yet, I have just fiberglassed the base for 1 door. Here are some pics of me working on it. I took off the door pocket and original speaker mount area and used a wire hanger and tape to fill in the empty space for the mold I was making (look at the pics and you'll see what I'm talking about).

RE: Fiberglassing Door Pods
Sweet man, good start, are you planning on covering the pods or painting them? If your going to paint them, I would suggest Rage gold body filler, its easy to work with and not a a lot of air bubbles. But get ready for hours on hours of sanding, it will look and feel perfect till you prime it, then you can see all the imperfections. I coverd my box in fabric, I was to lazy to sand it all because it was huge.

Lol, yeah I plan on painting which I know will seem like endless sanding, lol, at least its not huge. So rage gold?? I've seen that stuff at autozone, I'll have to remember that. Yeah I'm gonna sand the base a little bit (even though its not that improtant cause its not visible) then once I get the speakers I'm gonna make the MDF rings, stand them off with dowels, fleece it, brush on resin, add more fiberglass.... so on. I also have to figure out clearence for the doors to close near the bottom and side.
