Default Front Hood Grille

This is a noob question so bare with me, but I see with all the aftermarket Hood Grilles they always are the color of the car to match. You can only buy them black or CF, so i was wondering if you just painted the outside to match and get the grille itself the black?

The oem ones are actually 2 different pieces. the outer part is the part that is painted, while the center grille part is left unpainted. then the two pieces are put together to make the whole grille piece as you see it.

as for the one piece aftermarket grilles, you have to tape off the center grille area and paint the rest to match.

exactly what he said, tape up the black mesh part and use some color matched spray paint. if i'm not mistaken i think they come ready to be painted, so no sanding or primering
