Front Spoiler
in theory, it splits the air around the sides of the car, instead of letting it go underneath. less air=lower pressure, so if you can keep the air from going under the car, it will make for more downforce. though not all front spoilers are designed to be functional. (and i assume you are talking about a chin or lip spoiler, along the lower edge of the front bumper cover.)
I saw Some car race and is rear end lifted off the ground I swear it was because of that retarded spoiler, and not mounted right, I guess if you dont get the right spoiler it is not good for your car is that true in anyway.
For street cars a spoiler is just show. Maybe in racing when cars are so close in power and a race is won by few hundredths of a seconds they help, but not when you are going 45 down the street.
Although I have never heard of a wing not being "right" for the car and hurting performance. but ugly and far too big yes, lol
