Default Gauge needles

It looks like getting to the gauge cluster inlay is simple enough, but I've heard that taking the needles off the gauges is difficult? I heard there is a special tool but I find that hard to believe.

Also, are these electronic gauges that will pop back to normal accurate positions once the car starts after you've moved them around while dismantling everything or do you need to make sure and not move them?

It only took about 10 mins to get the cluster out and apart for any who are curious.

I'm to the point where I need the info on the needles though... it's sitting on my workbench. It looks like the needles should just pop off but the last thing I want to do is buy a new gauge cluster.

What are you trying to install? Gauges? If you are, then from my experience, there is no need to remove the needles. Just carefully slide the new gauge through the needles so that your new gauge will cover the old.

I'm taking the old faces out to install the new ones. I'm trading someone my stockers for his glow ones.

DO NOT remove the needles! They are ill-removable, doing so damages the cluster. Dont even move them. They will break. Slide the face plates over the gauges carefully.

I removed my needles from my gauge cluster for some reason or another and it wasn't too hard, just make sure you pull straight up and be careful when doing so.. I've also found this article on 7thgencivic.com (scroll to bottom) that explains how to put the needles back on in their correct positions... however, I guess do this at your own risk??
