Wow... so much ignorance hit this thread since yesterday. Carbon fiber is extremely strong, yet lightweight; that's the reason it's so popular, like Sigracer said. As far as in a collision, it's called crumple zones. Your front bumper cover? That's there to look pretty. The fenders? Again, looks. The hood? To keep too much sh*t from getting into your engine bay, and again, a lot has to do with looks. Of course, aerodynamics comes into play, but as far as standing up in a collision, well the body panels aren't designed for it. Crumple zones are built into the frame to absorb energy from an impact; that's what protects you in a crash. Unless you decide to swap out your frame for a carbon-fiber frame (a little hard to do on a uni-body), the only thing you have to worry about carbon-fiber doing in a crash is throwing shrapnel, and if you're hitting something that hard, that shrapnel is probably the least of your worries.

I have checked over the hood latch and it seems to be secured very well. But if I happen to have some extra resin and FG I might bulk it up for the added security.

They say it wouldn't break unless there was some form of user error. Like slamming the hood or not having it aligned properly and trying to close it.

Hoodpins never make a car look better... you just have to hope you get some that dont look too bad.... Danomatics are one of the very few I have seen that don't look retarded.
